The trouble with compact cameras

It is very hard to see the monitor in bright sun light and therefore, to determine if the camera is too close or too far for the macro setting to work.

This appears to have been a common wood-nymph (Cercyonis pegala).

They're handy --- I carry mine everywhere --- but a bit willful when it comes to focusing!

At least there's no problem with wasted film!

Consider investing in a $19.95 LCD screen shade or make one yourself from cardboard (make sure it is black inside) for free.
