And how many digits do they have? (I'm in a newt- and salamander-free country, so I'm claiming ignorance.)
I am not that versed in their anatomy, but I suspect they have 5 digits. The number of digits of the subject specimen is open to speculation.I didn't know there were no salamanders down under.
No tailed amphibians at all, but loads of frogs of various families, incl. a ranid (Rana daemelii). And one introduced bufonid, of course, Bufo marinus.
Actually, salamanders like all lissamphibians have no more than four digits on their forefeet, five on the hind.
Salamander in salami!
